Elisabeth
M. Ferrero, Ph.D. is Professor of Italian and Philosophy at St.
Thomas University in Miami, FL, USA. She has studied at Rutgers University in
New Brunswick, New Jersey. Closely involved with the
Earth Charter process since 1998, Elisabeth produced the
official Italian translation of Draft II of the Earth Charter
and was appointed by the Earth Council to start the National
Committee of the Earth Charter in Italy. She has recently authored with Dr.
Joe Holland a comprehensive commentary on the
Earth Charter: Reflection for Action.
The book was published in March 2003 in Italian by Diabasis
Publishers. The English edition soon to be published in the USA

She is a
published poet in both Italian and English. Her latest book of
poetry, Le Mie Terre, was published in Italy in October,
2001. She also has a new book of poetry in English, Barefoot
Mapping, soon to be published. She is also editing a new play and
is working on a
novel.
Elisabeth Ferrero is also very interested in translation. Presently
she is translating into English Mario Luzi's
poetry. One of her works soon to be
published is an important study and translation of the poetry of
Antonia Pozzi, a renowned Italian poet strongly influenced by
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. Elisabeth is a devoted disciple and
close friend of Thomas Berry.
She founded the St.
Thomas University Study Abroad for the Earth (SAFE) program,
which has organized study programs in Italy and in Ecuador. In
addition, for many years she organized major conferences in
Assisi, Italy, on ecology.
In 2002 with the collaboration of Wolfgang Riesterer she
produced Parliamo italiano / Let's Speak
Italian. This is an easy learning module consisting of
2 CDRoms with more than twelve hours of audio lessons with
grammar.
