Environmental
justice is above all the need of our present generation to
reconnect with the natural world. We propose to initiate this
through organic gardening. This is crucially important today in
light of the use of pesticides that farmers use, the engineering
of seeds, etc.. We must learn again the sources of our food.
Moreover, poor people are amongst the worst affected by
environmental problems and especially by foods contaminated by
pesticides and other harmful chemicals.
One of the leading
environmentalists of today is Thomas Berry.

Elisabeth Ferrero does organic gardening with her philosophy
students on Saturday mornings, in a natural setting at St.
Thomas University, close to a chickee hut built by the
Miccossukee Indians, where most of her classes are held.
